The Guild Graduate Scholarship

What programs are eligible for the Guild Scholarship?

The Houston Christian University Guild provides both endowed scholarships and annual scholarships to graduate students in the following programs:

  • Doctor of Education in Executive Educational Leadership
  • Master of Education
  • Master of Arts in Psychology Specialist in School Psychology
  • Master of Science in Learning, Technology, and Design
  • Master of Arts in Apologetics
  • Master of Arts in Biblical Languages
  • Master of Arts in Christian Leadership
  • Master of Arts in Classics and Early Christianity
  • Master of Arts in Theological Studies
  • Master of Divinity

Am I eligible to apply for the Guild Scholarship?

To apply for the Guild scholarship, you must do the following:

  • Complete all requirements for admission into the graduate school by March 1st and be accepted into one of the listed graduate school programs. Application requirements include:
    1. Complete the application for the Graduate School
    2. Providing a current résumé
    3. Sending official transcripts directly to The Graduate School from the college or university that awarded your
    4. bachelor’s degree and any additional coursework taken since that time
    5. Soliciting two recommendation forms or recommendation letters from professional recommenders
    6. Recommendations must be submitted to HCU by the individual providing the recommendation
  • Having a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75

How do I Apply for the Guild Scholarship?

  1. Complete the Guild scholarship application
  2. Write a letter of introduction of yourself to the Guild committee addressing your Christian faith and how it relates to your vocation. In addition, please read the Ten Pillars 2030 and discuss your personal mission in relation to the Ten Pillars. (Minimum of one page in letter format)
  3. Include a current résumé
  4. Meet the March 1st deadline for admission to the graduate school
  5. Be accepted into one of the listed programs
  6. Submit the scholarship application, letter of introduction, and résumé by March 1st

The Guild Graduate Scholarship Program Selection Criteria

  • Applications will be screened to assure that applicants meet all qualifications and that all required materials are present
  • Selected applicants must participate in a face-to-face interview with the Guild Scholarship Committee
  • Scholarship recipients will be selected and notified before the June summer semester starts

Other Requirements

  • The applicant must maintain a 3.0 GPA and good standing within the Graduate School for the scholarship period
  • Scholarship recipients will be required to reapply annually
