HBU is approved to accept online students from all states with the exception of Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Utah and Wisconsin.

Archie W. Dunham College of Business

  • Master of Business Administration
    • Official Transcripts – Official transcripts should be sent directly to The Graduate School from the college or university that awarded your bachelor’s degree.  Transcripts from any additional coursework since that time should also be submitted.  **If your degree-conferred transcript contains fewer than 100 hours of your undergraduate coursework, you will be required to submit all undergraduate transcripts.  Any post-bacc or graduate level transcripts will also be required.
    • Personal Statement – Please submit a personal statement, between 300 and 500 words, sharing your desire to attend the HBU Graduate School and how you feel a degree from HBU will assist you in your academic and professional careers.

    • GMAT or GRE Required – Take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). For information and to register to sit for the exam, visit the GMAT website. You may order additional score reports on line or by calling 609-771-7330. The HBU GMAT code is 9JD-54-68. OR take the Graduate Record Examination test (GRE). Details on the test may be obtained from the Educational Testing Services website.  The HBU GRE code is 6282. Submitted test scores may not be more than five (5) years old.  **You may be eligible for a GMAT waiver once your application file is complete. Your file will not be reviewed for a waiver until all other supplemental items listed have been received.
  • Master of International Business

College of Education and Behavioral Sciences

  • Doctor of Education in Executive Educational Leadership

    The Doctor of Education (EdD) program is designed for those individuals who have already demonstrated leadership ability in an educational setting.  The program will admit candidates who meet the academic requirements for the EdD degree program and who possess personal qualities and professional experiences that suggest a strong potential for success as doctoral candidates and as educational leaders.  Meeting the minimum requirements qualifies an individual for consideration, but does not guarantee admission to the program.  Admission will be granted annually on a competitive basis.

    • Official Transcripts – Applicants must provide official transcripts from institutions awarding the master’s degree.  Transcripts must show completion of a master’s degree.  A minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required for courses applied toward a master’s degree.
    • Personal Statement – Applicants must write a personal statement, not to exceed 1,000 words.  The statement must include the following:
      • Reasons for pursuing the doctoral program;
      • Career goals and how the Executive Educational Leadership doctoral program will help in meeting the established goals; and
      • Experiences that relate the student’s aptitude for the doctoral program.
    • Résumé & Service Record – Applicants must provide a current resume and service record. Applicants must have completed at least three (3) full-time professional years at an accredited school, university, or agency.
    • Official GRE Report – Applicants must provide an official report of scores for the Graduate Record Examination (not more than five (5) years old).  The minimum GRE total score required is 291 (Q + V).  Details may be obtained from the Educational Testing Services website.  The HBU GRE code is 6282.
    • Reference Rating FormsDownload the form here.  Applicants must provide Reference Rating forms from the following individuals:
      • Three (3) administrators from the school district or agency at a current place of employment (references from university administrators from former places of employment may be accepted.  Include an explanation.).
      • Two (2) current or former graduate professors (references from alternate administrators may be accepted.  Include an explanation.).
    • Superintendent Certification – Applicants seeking a superintendent certification must submit the following additional document to be considered for admission:
      • Copy of Principal Certification issued by State Board of Educator Certification
    • Processing fee – Applicants will be required to submit a $35.00 processing fee, payable with check or money order, to Houston Baptist University.  Pay your fee via credit card.
    • Other items, including an admission interview, may be requested.

    All completed documents must be submitted to the HBU Graduate Admissions office via email at gradadmissions@hbu.edu, fax (281) 649-3390, or mail.

  • Master of Education
    • Official Transcripts – Official transcripts should be sent directly to The Graduate School from the college or university that awarded your bachelor’s degree.  Transcripts from any additional coursework since that time should also be submitted.  *If your degree-conferred transcript contains fewer than 100 hours of your undergraduate coursework, you will be required to submit all undergraduate transcripts.  Any post-bacc or graduate level transcripts will also be required. **If you are applying for Initial Certification, you must submit all transcripts from every college or university you have attended.
    • Additional Transcripts – For students applying to be certified in a content area, you are required to submit all of your transcripts to the Graduate School.
    • Two (2) Recommendation Forms –  Download Recommendation Form. Recommenders should submit the completed forms directly to the Graduate School via email at gradadmissions@hbu.edu. Letters of recommendation should be from a principal or supervisor, parent of a taught student, or colleague. Forms from family members or friends will not be accepted. Recommendation forms must be sent in from the recommenders directly or they will be considered void.
    • Résumé – Email a current resumé to the Graduate School at gradadmissions@hbu.edu.
    • Interview – An interview may be required as part of the admission process.
  • Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification
    • Official Transcripts – Official transcripts should be sent directly to The Graduate School from all colleges or universities you have attended.
    • Additional Transcripts – For students applying to be certified in a content area, you are required to submit all of your transcripts to the Graduate School
    • Two (2) Recommendation FormsDownload Recommendation Form. Recommenders should submit the completed forms directly to the Graduate School via email at gradadmissions@hbu.edu. If you are currently employed in a school district, it is preferred that you have your principal serve as one of your references. Forms from family members or friends will not be accepted.  Recommendation forms must be sent in from the recommenders directly or they will be considered void.
    • Résumé – Email a current resumé to the Graduate School at gradadmissions@hbu.edu.
    • Interview – An admission interview is required.
  • Superintendent Certification

    • Two (2) Recommendation Forms – Download Recommendation Form. Recommenders should submit the completed forms directly to the Graduate School via email at gradadmissions@hbu.edu.     • Baccalaureate Degree in Psychology or Equivalent Courses – Candidates must have received a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major in psychology or the equivalent with the following prerequisites, taken within the last seven (7) years: PSYC 5300 (General Psychology); PSYC 5301 (Introduction to Statistics); PSYC 5302 (Abnormal Psychology); and CHRI 5300 (Introduction to Biblical Texts) if taken as an undergraduate.
    • Two (2) Recommendation Forms – Download Recommendation Form. Recommenders should submit the completed forms directly to the Graduate School via email at gradadmissions@hbu.edu. Recommendations must be from a professional or academic source.  One of the recommendation forms must be a pastoral recommendation.  Forms from family members or friends will not be accepted.  Recommendation forms must be sent directly from the recommenders to be considered valid.

    **Master’s Required**

    • Official Transcripts – This program requires a conferred graduate degree from either a regionally-accredited counseling or educational diagnostician program.  Official transcripts should be sent directly to The Graduate School from the college or university that awarded this degree.  Your conferred bachelor’s degree transcript is also required.  **If your degree-conferred transcript contains fewer than 100 hours of your undergraduate coursework, you will be required to submit all undergraduate transcripts.
    • Two (2) Recommendation Forms – Download Recommendation Form. Recommenders should submit the completed forms directly to the Graduate School via email at gradadmissions@hbu.edu.   • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) Certification

    **Students who have previously earned a master’s degree with psychology or counseling in the name can return to HBU to take the additional courses need to gain their LPC or LSSP certifications.
