Writ in Water
We are now accepting submissions of previously unpublished work for consideration in the Spring 2018 edition of our student journal, Writ in Water! Open only to HBU students, Writ in Water is designed to showcase the best creative work of our very own artists, photographers, and authors.
This year’s theme will be Community. The works selected for publication should incorporate that theme in some way, touching on questions like: what does “Community” mean to you? What does it look like? Do we need it? Why or why not?
To submit, email your work as an attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org with “Journal Submission” in the subject line before February 9.
For all submissions, please include the following in the body of your email:
- Your name and H number
- A short bio written in third person containing your name, major, and current classification
- The work’s title and medium/genre
For Visual Art and Photography, please submit up to three JPEG files along with an Artist’s Statement for each. For photographs in particular, please also include an Image Release form permitting the publication of the likenesses of any persons represented in your submissions.
All written submissions must be 12 point, 1.5 spaced in Times New Roman font. For Fiction and Creative Non-Fiction, please submit up to two pieces (in either category) of no greater than 1,000 words. For Poetry, please submit up to five pieces of a combined length no greater than 5 pages for consideration.
The ASC editorial team reserves the right to edit and/or ask the artist, photographer, or author to resubmit an edited version of his or her piece before publication.
If you have any questions, please email email@example.com with “Question” in the subject line.
