Bands at HBU
The Husky Marching Band is under the direction of Professor Patrick Moore. Husky Marching Band performs at all home football games. They also perform at all Husky Howls, an on campus pep rally held the night before home football games, bringing excitement and fun to the event. Our marching band serves as one of the many spirit groups on the HBU campus. The Husky Marching Band also performs at local parades around the Houston area performing different styles of music for each event. The band is made up or woodwinds, brass, percussion and majorettes. Students of the Husky Marching Band are music majors, music minors, non-music majors and are devoted to give support for all HBU athletics, serve as ambassadors for HBU, and deliver the highest quality of music at every performance. Marching band rehearsals are held in the Fall semesters on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 2:00 – 3:50.
The Symphonic Band rehearses and performs compositions for all levels of concert band and new arrangements of standard literature. The band’s goal is to introduce students to new music and offer all students the opportunity to work with their peers. Symphonic Band performs two concerts during the spring semester on the HBU campus. Currently Symphonic Band meets during the spring semesters on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:00 – 3:50.
The pep band performs at all home women and men basketball games as well as NCAA tournament games. Enrollment in symphonic band is required in the spring for all pep band members.
HBU bands are open to all students regardless of major. Partial tuition scholarships are available to students based on talent and departmental need upon successful completion of a scholarship audition.
