HBU CFO and COO Named “CFO of the Year” Finalist

Sandra Sandra “Sandy” Mooney, HBU CFO and COO, was named a “CFO of the Year” Finalist by the Houston Business Journal. Mooney has served HBU since 2009, and led the University during a time of tremendous growth of the student population, programs and facilities. Under her leadership, HBU obtained an investment-grade rating and successfully refunded outstanding debt. Mooney is a member of the President’s Executive Council and serves on various University committees.

A panel of judges selected the finalists for their qualitative and quantitative accomplishments, their community involvement and their ability to manage change, adapt to disruptions and help their companies navigate successfully.

Mooney said, “It is very rewarding to be a part of the HBU team and work toward such a fulfilling mission. I am privileged to work with the talented individuals who are on the Financial Operations team here at HBU. This recognition from the outside business community further validates the good work that we are doing at HBU. I was honored to represent the University amongst such other fine financial executives.”
