Tamaulipas Governor and HBU Alumnus Makes Special Visit

Governor of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas and HBU Alumnus Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, ’90, visited his alma mater in September. He committed, along with HBU President Dr. Robert B. Sloan, to encourage the exchange of students and faculty across the Texas and Mexico border for the purpose of building relationships and mutual understanding.

“It’s a landmark moment for us,” Sloan said. “We are one of the most diverse private universities in America, and this gives us a great opportunity.”

Cabeza de Vaca, who played soccer as a student and earned a degree in management and marketing, said he continues to carry HBU in his heart.

“We have endless opportunities ahead,” he said. “Good things happen when we work together.”
