HCU’s Braxton Bonds Continues Sports Legacy

HBU basketball’s point guard Braxton Bonds is leading the team in assists and averaging almost 10 points per game.

If the name sounds familiar it’s because Braxton has a famous uncle, Major League Baseball’s current all-time home run leader, Barry Bonds.

While baseball is a way of life for the Bonds family, Braxton, a sophomore transfer, notes that he was always a fan of basketball. “My family was pretty much baseball all the way, but I was like, I can’t do this, this sport’s too boring for me.”

In February, Bonds and Atif Russell scored 18 points each, leading to HBU winning its fourth straight and beating Sam Houston State.
