As Associate Provost for Operations, Ms. Tauer reports directly to the University Provost. Working in concert with the Provost, Ms. Tauer is responsible for leadership, direction and support of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, Online Learning, Academic Technology Support, and Media Technology.
In addition, Ms. Tauer is responsible for assuring compliance with all accreditation standards, including the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), College/School specific accreditation, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Prior to her role as Associate Provost, Ms. Tauer served as the Dean of the College of Continuing Studies. She oversaw the development of this new College, including the selection and oversight of a committee to determine the feasibility of opening this College, developing on-campus and on-line courses, recruiting and hiring College instructors, securing partnerships with leaders in the continuing studies industry, and marketing the College to the community.
Associate Provost Tauer has served in a variety of roles during her 27-year tenure at Houston Baptist University. She began as an Instructor in Accounting in 1987 and served as an Assistant Professor of Accounting until 2014.
Associate Provost Tauer assumed administrative responsibilities in 1993 and since that time has held many leadership positions including Interim Dean of the College of Business and Economics, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs, and chair of several University and College committees. She was instrumental in the initial accreditation in the School of Business and (ACBSP) and in the academic year 2002-2003, Associate Provost Tauer was named the Houston Baptist University Faculty Woman of the Year in honor of her work as the Interim Dean of the Business School.
Ms. Tauer has taught courses in Advanced Accounting, Principles of Financial Accounting , Survey of Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, and Principles of Managerial Accounting.
