Teaching Focus

Dr. Savannah’s primary teaching focus is undergraduate biology.


She has published in several peer-reviewed journals such as Clinical Cancer Research, Annals of Surgical Oncology, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. She has also authored and co-authored book chapters and educational/programmatic papers and grants.

Additional Information

Dr. Savannah is the COSM Faculty Representative to the Faculty Assembly and looks forward to serving on additional committees on campus as she has been integrally involved in leadership on many of her former campuses.

Dr. Savannah holds several professional memberships including Tri-Beta National Biological Honors Society (Iota Psi Chapter), Iota Sigma Pi National Honors Society for Women in Chemistry (Neptunium Chapter), and Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society (Rice/TMC Chapter). She has held many leadership roles including President of Iota Sigma Pi Neptunium chapter from 2008-2010. In addition, she has won several graduate research awards for her studies in imaging cancer and cancer cell signaling from UT Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Savannah came to HBU in 2014 after spending two years as a Research Assistant Professor and the Director of Undergraduate Biomedical Research Programs at The University of Texas at Brownsville.

Having grown up in and around the water, Dr. Savannah and her family enjoy water-related activities such as kayaking, tubing, fishing, and swimming. She loves sports, especially football, and often cheers on her favorite teams at home games.
