Director of Career and Calling

Mable had served as Assistant Director since arriving at HBU in December of 2014. Prior to working at HBU, Mable served as Assistant Director for Alumni Career Services in the main Career Center at the University of Houston.
Mable brings a diverse skillset and an array of Career Services perspectives having previously worked as a Career Advisor in the for-profit side of Higher Education at American InterContinental University (AIU) as well as a Workforce Career Advisor at Lone Star College. The Career Services Office at AIU attained a 90.7% placement rate during Mable’s tenure which was the highest among 75 other colleges and universities within Career Education Corporation. At Lone Star College, Mable was responsible for sourcing companies and co-op sites in order to place students enrolled in Workforce programs including Automotive, Machining, Welding, Architectural Engineering, Visual Communications, Information Technology, Oilfield Service, Cosmetology, Engineering Design and additional programs. Mable personally placed 100+ students into Co-ops while serving in the role.
Career Services at HBU is centralized as the Office of Career and Calling provides services and resources for all schools and colleges on campus. Mable previously served as Assistant Director and was responsible for Employer Relations and programming.
Mable has presided over the expansion in the number of industry-focused Career Fairs and Career Development Seminars involving student organizations. Mable is interested in building strategic partnerships with industry professionals on behalf of HBU students and alumni.
Mable has worked in Career Services for a number of years at institutions in the Houston region including the University of Houston, Lone Star College, and American InterContinental University and also serves as a First Year Experience Instructor at HBU.
