Shawn O’Brien

Education & Training:

Born in Austin, Tx. and raised in Rio Hondo, Tx. Shawn attended Rio Hondo high school where he was a three sport stand-out athlete.  He competed in Football, Basketball, and Track and Field. While Shawn shined on the football and Basketball teams, playing several region wide all-star games, he really seemed to find his calling in Track and Field. Shawn competed in several events on the track team, his personal favorite and best was the 110m hurdles, where in 2012 Shawn was the UIL Texas 3A state champion. His performance earned him a NCAA division 1 scholarship on the HBU husky track and field team. Shawn now competes as a heptathlete (indoor) and decathlete (outdoor) for the huskies. He was part of an indoor conference championship in 2013 and is now in his senior season. Shawn will graduate with his Bachelors in the science of kinesiology in May 2016 at the completion of his senior track season. Shawn’s love for being a well-rounded competitive athlete and love for the gym is what lead him to find his way here to Crossfit Altus. Shawn is passionate, hard working and eager to share his knowledge and experiences with all others seeking to be well rounded athletes.

“You can’t cheat the grind. It knows everything you’ve invested. It won’t give you anything you haven’t worked for.”
