  • HCU Alumni Association Advisory Board - Committees

    Below are the committees opportunities. Please select which committee interest you based on your affinity and skill set.
    The events committee is charged with coordinating volunteers and logistics, recruiting alumni to attend alumni board events, and working with Alumni Relations to execute AAAB events; specifically but not limited to, the Husky Social Hours, on-campus events with Athletics: Throwback Game or tailgates, Grad Fest for our incoming alumni, Homecoming, Ring Ceremony and Golden Circle
    The nominating committee is charged with identifying, recruiting and nominating potential candidates to serve on the Alumni Association Advisory Board, which will then be considered by the Alumni Association Advisory Board.
    The awards committee is charged with reviewing nominations, as well as identifying individuals, for the Meritorious Service Alumnus Award, Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Emerging Leader Award, and Hallmark Award. Student Life will nominate students for the Emma Key Service Award that the Awards Committee will narrow down to the final candidate. The chair of the committee, an AAAB member, will present these individuals to the Alumni Association Advisory Board for a vote. Alumni Award recipients are recognized during the Spirit of HCU celebration at Homecoming.
    The finance committee is chaired by the treasurer, and AAAB member. The duties of the committee will be to provide financial oversight and to make recommendations regarding budget and spending as well as developing strategies for fundraising activities involving the Alumni Association Advisory Board and its committees. Additional responsibilities include budgeting and financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.
    The scholarship committee is charged with awarding four-year Alumni Endowed scholarships to relatives of HCU graduates. The Scholarship committee is tasked with evaluating applicants for eligibility and worthiness, assessing achievements, academic record, letters of recommendation, and personal essays all using a rubric in order to award scholarships. This committee primarily meets in the spring - reviews submissions in late March / early April and makes final selections after interviews in mid- to late April.
    This committee is primarily charged with planning and executing the annual 5K Fundraiser for scholarships that takes place in coordination with Homecoming. These individuals will be responsible for working effectively with their committee to execute accomplish the goals of the Husky Hustle 5K, including but not limited to developing a marketing strategy, finding sponsorships, recruiting runners, and planning the postrace party.
