HBU Alumni Board of Directors - Committees
Below are the committees available for you to serve on and be an active member. Please select which committees interest you based on your interests and skill set.
The events committee is charged with coordinating volunteers and logistics, recruiting alumni to attend alumni board events, and working with the alumni relations office to execute alumni board events; specifically but not limited to, the Husky Social Hour, Football Tailgates, and the Senior Send Off celebrations held at the President's Home.
The nominating committee is charged with identifying, recruiting and nominating potential candidates to serve on the Alumni Board of Directors, which will then be considered by the Alumni Board of Directors.
The awards committee is charged with reviewing nominations, as well as identifying individuals, for the Meritorious Service Alumnus Award, Distinguished Alumnus Award and Hallmark Award and presenting these individuals to the Alumni Board of Directors for a vote. Alumni Award recipients are recognized during the Spirit of HBU Dinner.
The finance committee is chaired by the treasurer. The duties of the committee will be to provide financial oversight and to make recommendations regarding budget and spending as well as developing strategies for advancement activities involving the Alumni Board of Directors and its committees. Additional responsibilities include budgeting and financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.
This committee is primary charged with planning and executing the annual 5K Fundraiser for scholarships that takes place in coordination with Homecoming. These individuals will be responsible for obtaining the permit from the City of Houston, creating images and flyers for advertising, fundraising, and working effectively with their committee to execute accomplish the goals of the Husky Hustle 5K.
