Career Resources

As you begin to discover more about God’s call on your life, the Office of Career & Calling want to help you learn about yourself and your career options. Below are some available services and resources for you.

  • Hire A Husky

If you have never used Hire a Husky we advise you to use the guide to get familiarized with the system. We encourage all students and alumni to sign in to our Hire a Husky job database and to upload your resume, cover letter and anything else pertinent to your job search. These documents can be viewed by registered employers who are seeking to hire a HBU student or alumnus. All resumes will be reviewed by a Career Counselor before being approved for employers to view. If the resume is not approved, the alumnus will be contacted via email regarding ways it can be improved. Employers from various fields use this database to post internships, volunteer, part-time, and full-time opportunities. Students and Alumni are also able to schedule appointments with Career Counselors via their Hire-A-Husky accounts. Just click the Make Appointment tab on the left side of the home page.

  • Personality and Interest Assessments

We offer the  Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Strong Interest Inventory (SII), and StrengthsQuest assessments. There is a slight fee to cover the cost of each assessment.  Contact James Mable to make an appointment.

  • Career Resources

Students and alumni are encouraged to explore interests, skills, and values in order to make effective career decisions and develop action plans for the future. We offer resume critiques, mock interviews, advice on personal statements, internship and job search assistance, and a host of other services. For more information, please contact us.

  • Career Resource Library in Hire a Husky

Resources are available for checkout on career alternatives, job search techniques, salary surveys and job market trends. Also available are self-help handouts on resumes and cover letters, commonly asked interview questions, networking tips and other job search information.  In addition, you will find sample resumes, cover letters and reference templates under the Resource Library in Hire a Husky. We would invite you to check out Careerruising.com for additional information.  Contact James Mable for website information.

  • Seminars and Workshops

As a way of assisting students in organizing and conducting a successful job search, we sponsor a series of workshops throughout the year pertaining to various aspects in the job search process during our Career Development Weeks. Students and alumni are encouraged to attend these events each semester in order to grow professionally and to network with students, alumni, and employers.  For scheduled workshops and events please feel free to log into your Hire-A-Husky account and click the Upcoming Events tab. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Career & Calling.

  • Career Fairs

Career and Calling hosts Career Fairs in the fall and spring semesters. Students from all classifications attend these events in order to connect with employers from many fields looking to fill internships, part-time, and full-time positions. In order to view the upcoming Career Fairs, please visit our website or log into your Hire-A-Husky account and click the Upcoming Events tab.
