Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations

Responsible for assisting in all areas of sports writing, publication design, statistics, game management and maintaining the official website and social media platforms for HBU Athletics, a distinctly Christian institution of higher education.
Use independent judgment to accurately write game stories and press releases concerning HBU athletic teams
Assist Director of Athletic Media Relations with maintaining positive relationships with media outlets and HBU Athletics vendors
Assist in maintaining historical (records, statistics, etc.) information for all HBU athletic teams
Creatively design publications and other HBU Athletics printed/promotional materials
Provide statistics to the NCAA, conference office, as well as media outlets
Assist in maintaining the official website and social media platforms for HBU Athletics
Supervise student workers and game personnel
Work with the Athletic Director, Director of Athletic Media Relations and other personnel to coordinate regular and postseason tournaments when HBU acts as host
Follow all NCAA and conference rules and regulations
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications or other related field required.
Minimum five years of experience in a college athletic or professional media relations office or closely related field.
Excellent writing and communication skills, as well as advanced graphic design and layout skills.
Proficient in Stat Crew software for all sports, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Ability to provide clear direction, delegate responsibility, motivate others, develop others’ skills and talents.

While performing the essential duties of the job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be physically active. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Must be available to often work nights, weekends, holidays and travel when necessary.
In exercising these functions, the employee must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally and up to 10 lbs. regularly.
The employee must be able to see objects up close and from distances up to 150 yards.
