Houston Baptist College
was created by action of the Baptist General Convention of Texas on November 15, 1960, culminating many years of work and study. The aim of our founders
was to establish a Christian college of the highest order in the city of Houston that stressed quality of life as well as quality of learning.
Known today as Houston Baptist University
or, HBU, the institution has grown into a thriving community of faith and scholarship since its founding more than 50 years ago.
Houston Baptist University may deliver approved programs in a 100% online format to students with residency in Arizona, California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana (Masters of Arts in Apologetics program only), Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.
Houston Baptist University is proud to offer some of its graduate programs in a 100% online format. It is important to note that the programs selected for online delivery are those that have an excellent track record in the face-to-face format on campus, and in many cases, employ the same fulltime faculty for instruction. HBU faculty is trained extensively to deliver the highest quality courses infused with Christian faith and love for our students. No program has been developed solely for online delivery.
Houston Baptist University is accredited
by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate, baccalaureate, and master's degrees.
