Wednesday, March 25, 2015: Faculty Violin Recital
Belin Chapel at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Mauricio Oliveros will play selections by Bach, Beethoven, Wieniawski, and Ravel. 

Friday March 27, 2015:  Choir Concert  

Belin Chapel at 7:30 p.m.
HBU's Department of Music will present one of the world's most recognized choral masterworks - the Mozart Requiem. The dramatic performance will feature HBU voice faculty, string orchestra, HBU's Smith organ, and Schola Cantorum, HBU's premier choral ensemble.  Mozart's Requiem is one of the crown jewels in his artistic output, as well as one of his last compositions.  Recognized as one of the best-loved works in the Classical repertoire, Mozart's Requiem is both rousingly powerful and poignantly beautiful.  

The Requiem will feature soprano Laurie Domingue Lester, mezzo-soprano Christy Compson, tenor David Kirkwood, and bass-baritone Jason Lester under the direction of Dr. John Yarrington.  

This concert is free and open to the public, however we request you RSVP for email tickets.
Monday, April 6, 2015: Choraleidoscope
Dunham Theater at 7:30 p.m.
Come and hear some of your favorite campus singers in a program of popular music, show tunes and a medley from Les Miserables. University Singers, will be joined by the Men’s Glee Club and the Women’s Glee Club in a delightful evening of music.

Friday, April 24, 2015: Organ Recital Series

Week of May 4-8, 2015:  J.A.C. Redford
Mr. J.A.C Redford,  accomplished composer of concert, chamber and choral music, will be in residence at HBU May 4-8, 2015.  Redford is best known  for scores to The Trip to Bountiful, Oliver & Company, and Newsies, as well as the television series Coach and St. Elsewhere, for which he received Emmy nominations.  He will narrate a "Monday Night at the Movies," speak to various classes during the week, and conduct a gala concert of his works featuring HBU's Schola Cantorum and the Chancel Choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Houston.

The College of Fine Arts is collaborating with the Department of Music in this presentation of music and media.  There will be a reception for Mr. Redford in the Art Museum on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 where his music, inspired by the oxford painter, Roger Wagner, will accompany the showing of some of Mr. Wagner’s works in slide presentation.
Tuesday, May 5, 2015: Band Concert
Dunham Theater at 7:30 p.m.
The HBU Symphonic band will present their spring concert "Fun". The concert will feature guest conductor David Lang who is the Head Band Director at Prince of Peace Christian School. The band will present musical works by Brian Balmages, Antonin Dvorak, Frank Ticheli, John Zdechlik and many more.
