Position Summary:

Responsible for ensuring the safety, welfare and protection of HBU students, employees and visitors and the protection of public and personal property.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for traffic control and enforcement of federal and state laws and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Patrols campus and housing area to ensure protection, safety and welfare of students, employees and visitors.  Meets with these individuals to discuss such issues when necessary.
  • Enforces state, county and local laws.
  • Performs routine clerical tasks such as writing investigation reports, processing vehicle registrations, etc.
  • Acts as first responder for medical, first aid, CPR and hurricane relief.
  • Performs quarterly meetings with residential students regarding personal safety.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMTNES:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED and completion of recognized police academy and zero to six months prior experience.
 
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Basic state certification
  • CPR and Emergency Care certification
  • Duty weapon qualification

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the essential duties of the job, the employee is required to regularly work in outside weather conditions and be physically active.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
In exercising these functions the employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds regularly.  The employees must be able to see objects up close.
