Tommy Bambrick

Vice President for Advancement

Tommy Bambrick serves as Vice President for Advancement, where he oversees development, alumni relations and church relations.
Having held the position of Vice President for Advancement at HBU in the early nineties as well, Bambrick brings with him a long history of familiarity with HBU, its supporters and the Houston area. His appreciation for the value of relationships and his many years of experience in educational administration make Bambrick an ideal candidate to direct the work of the Advancement Office towards the fulfillment of the Ten Pillars vision and beyond.
Bambrick has held many different titles within education. He began his administrative career as a school principal, serving in both public and private schools in Houston.  He then went back to his alma mater to serve as the development officer in Houston for Baylor University. Before coming to HBU for the first time, Bambrick was the president of Northwest Academy at Houston’s First Baptist Church for six years, where he helped to cultivate the first million dollar endowment for the school.
During his term as Vice President for Advancement at HBU, Bambrick played a key role in the campaign to build the Hinton Center. He also reorganized the President’s Development Council into a more effective fundraising organization.
In 1995 Bambrick left the world of education to pursue a successful career as owner of Olde Towne Kolaches, a local bakery operation that he expanded to five shops over six years. Bambrick and his wife, Klare, still run one shop in northwest Houston.
Since returning to HBU in 2010, Bambrick has worked with deans from each of the schools to create Dean’s Development Councils, which promote and support the growth of each school through the participation of alums and friends who work in each of the respective disciplines.
Bambrick received a bachelor of science in education from Baylor University, a master of education in administration from Sam Houston State University, and a doctor of education in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University. He and Klare have two children and two grandchildren.
