Alumni Awards & Profiles
On any give day, at any given hour, an HBU alum is making a difference in their world and their community. Outstanding alumni are recognized through the Distinguished Alumnus Award, presented to alumni who have made a distinctive contribution in their profession, and the Meritorious Service Alumnus Award, presented to alumni who have made significant, sustained contributions of time, energy and creativity toward the advancement of the University. He is in his 28th season in the NFL, second as Titans Executive Vice President/General Manager and 10th with the Oilers/Titans franchise. His first tenure with the team was from 1976-83 as an All-Pro safety. He re-joined the franchise in 2007, after spending seven years with the Seattle Seahawks. Clay Porter, Hallmark Award This year’s recipient is always behind the scenes at ALL alumni events and goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure these events run smoothly … even in areas that are not under his purview of responsibility. But what makes this year’s recipient so important to the Alumni Association is the way he promotes the Association with our students and our recent graduates. From volunteering with the Husky Hustle 5K Fun Run and engaging students to participate in the run, to promoting athletic and student life activities and personally bringing recent graduates to the Alumni Director in order to engage them as alumni volunteers, this year’s recipient has a heart for encouraging our students to enjoy the full collegiate experience – academics, athletics, student and spiritual life -- thus binding them closer to their alma mater as alumni. It is with great pleasure that the HBU Alumni Board of Directors presents the 2008 Hallmark Award to Clay Porter, Director of Instructional Television.
