Dr. Thompson's teaching focus is on helping students acquire proficiency in French and an understanding of francophone culture as well as acquire a knowledge of some of the literature of the French-speaking world for personal enjoyment and career enhancement.

Dr. Thompson is an active researcher in her areas of interest. She is continually investigating effective class activities for using French to connect with other disciplines and participating in the global community for leisure and career enhancement.

Dr. Thompson has twice been named Houston Baptist's Teacher of the Year and Woman of the Year and has also been honored as the Texas Foreign Language Association's College Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Thompson sponsors the HBU Iota Rho Chapter of Alpha Mu Gamma, the national collegiate foreign language honor society. She is also the Director of Public Outreach and Advocacy for the Texas Foreign Language Association (TFLA) and a past president of TFLA.

Dr. Thompson has also taught at Alfred University and Memorial High School, Spring Branch I.S.D.

Dr. Thompson's personal interest or hobbies are the francophone world, music (clarinet), hiking, improving our quality of life by protecting the environment, and the Adirondack Mountains in New York.
