The Master of Liberal Arts program at HBU is a unique master's degree designed for adults like you whose formal college education is complete, but who wish to continue intellectual enrichment in a stimulating academic environment. MLA courses combine a challenging and exciting interdisciplinary approach to the study of the liberal arts with a practical structure that is just right for you. Evening and Saturday classes allow you to complete the degree on a full-time basis in about two years.

UPCOMING COURSE OFFERINGS FOR FALL 2010 SEMESTERMLA 5318 Texas Culture Thursday 6:30-9 H201 Ron Stone, Jr The purpose of this course is to view the “Texas experience” from a variety of angles, including the history of the Lone Star State, and how Texas fits in the national, social and political mosaic.
MLA 5392 Western Culture and Human Experience III Saturday 8-11 am H201 Dr. Jon Suter The western culture courses - 5390, 5391, 5392 - are a core component of the MLA program and offer a broad overview of history, politics, and, and philosophy. MLA 5392 will cover from the French revolution through Modern times.
MLA 5319 Structures of Poetry Wednesday 6:30-9 Dr. Doni Wilson Structures of Poetry teaches students to read poetry thoughtfully, accurately, and wisely. Students who are inexperienced with reading poetry, who are convinced they cannot understand poetry, or who think they hate poetry will emerge from this course as capable readers. Students who have read much poetry, who are already good readers of poetry, and who love poetry will emerge from this course with a much fuller understanding of the way a poem functions.
