Don R. Byrnes, previous Vice President for Enrollment Management and Legal Counsel to the President, received his Ph.D. in History from Tulane University with a dissertation in American Social and Intellectual History of the Early National period. Don served as a Professor in History until Spring in 1982 when he became an academic bureaucrat. That transition occurred when he completed his J.D. from the University of Houston and was licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. Lawrence Clark Chris Hammons John Hooker, Professor in Biology at Houston Baptist University, holds a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. Prior to coming to Houston Baptist he worked in industry and did post-doctoral studies at Baylor College of Medicine. In addition, he is an addict to the great outdoors. Louis Markos Diane Lovell (Martin) Constantina Michalos Patricia Orr received her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Dallas, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in history from Rice University. Among the fellowships she held at Rice was the Mellon Dissertation Fellowship. She was given the Clifford Lefton Lawrence Award for Excellence in scholarship in British History for her dissertation, "English Women in Law: Actions in the King's Courts of Justice, 1194-1222." Ron Stone Jon Suter received his Ph.D. from Indiana University. He has been the Director of Moody Library since 1984 and teaches several classes in the undergraduate interdisciplinary program as well as in the MLA program. He has presented papers on such topics as comic books, textbook censorship, and medieval libraries to the Popular Culture Association, Western Speech and Communication Association, and the International Congress on Medieval studies.
