Items in the Dunham Bible Museum American collection are catalogued under the following categories:

• Jonathan Byrd Collection - The over 450 Bibles purchased from Jonathan Byrd are the foundation of the Museum's original collection.
• Jonathan Byrd Addendum- Additional books purchased from Mr. J. Byrd, including rare first editions, books by Noah Webster.
• Bibles - additional Bibles acquired by the Museum.
• Children's Books - includes several "hieroglyphic" Bibles.
• Complementary Books - books such as concordances and commentaries which complement the study of the Bible in America.
• Framed Bible pages - Over 30 framed historic Bible pages give an overview of the Bible in America.
• Translations - Bibles translated into languages other than English
