Alpha Chi National is a national general scholarship organization for men and women whose purpose is to encourage sound scholarship and devotion to truth, not only among its members, but also among all the students on campuses where there are chapters. It is opposed to bigotry, narrowness, and discrimination on any basis other than that of genuine worth.

Houston Baptist University's Alpha Lambda Chapter became a part of the campus on November 15, 1971.

To be eligible for membership in the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Chi National at Houston Baptist University, one must have a GPA of 3.6 as a Junior, or a GPA of 3.5 as a Senior. Membership is voluntary based on GPA; membership dues are lifetime dues. Our membership numbers vary from year to year, the average is usually eight-five.

The chapter meets in October and again in April when new members are welcomed into the organization. We also honor our graduating seniors with a reception in late May.
