A Global Perspective
"The aspect of the HBU MBA program that sets it apart from others is the international trip. This gives us the opportunity to travel with our classmates and experience business environments outside of the US. The experience allows us firsthand exposure to challenges and opportunities of international business." Jennifer Allen, '09 International Faculty The School of Business emphasizes outstanding teaching and has recruited faculty members from major universities around the world as well as from the Houston business community. These outstanding faculty members bring real-world professional and consulting experience to the classroom and consistently impart the wisdom of their experiences to their students. International Management MGMT 6395, International Management, is just one of several diversification courses focusing on the global economy. The course, which includes a nine to ten day foreign residency, begins with a classroom experience, which emphasizes international business issues, adapting to national cultures, and a preliminary study of companies on the itinerary for the selected destination. Over the years our students have gained valuable knowledge from visiting companies in France, Germany, England, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Indonesia, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and Australia. This international perspective, coupled with a solid foundation in American business practice, gives HBU's graduate business students a complete graduate management business education. Travel destinations are announced in the spring for fall travel. Because group size is limited, students are required to register for this course in the spring to ensure a place. Aside from incidental personal expenditures and some meals, there is no additional cost for this course beyond the tuition. The MBA program covers all airfare and hotel costs. Students are expected to execute a travel agreement setting forth the conditions under which the trip is made. Examples of Travel Opportunities Fall 2006 - China
