Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) Quick TestGeneral
The Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA
) is a tool used to evaluate the English, Mathematics, and Writing skills of freshman-level students, gauging the readiness of Texas students for college-level work.
The THEA Quick Test is the same exam as the THEA, except the institution schedules the test dates rather than the testing company. THEA Quick Test is offered at HBU about once each month. Examinees have up to 5 hours to complete the exam.
THEA Quick Test has three sections: Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. If a section is started, then it is scored. It is the examinee's responsibility to know which section(s) of the exam they must take. View exam description details
THEA Quick Tests are scored by National Evaluation Systems (NES). Score reports are mailed to the student and are also issued to the college or university indicated by the student at the time of testing. The student must contact NES customer service directly at 1-866-565-4879 for any questions or problems that may occur. Results are typically mailed from the testing company to examinees 7 to 10 days after the test administration.
HBU students are encouraged to follow up with the Office of Registrar (for meeting reading proficiency graduation requirement) and/or School of Education (if applying for education program) after receiving notification of their scores. Students may check in their Huskynet account to see if the reading proficiency graduation requirement has been met (degree evaluation).
