Freshman Student Admission
Freshmen students are students attending HBU directly after high school graduation.

Freshman Admissions Checklist
Consideration for admission to Houston Baptist University is determined by competitive scores on either the SAT or ACT and by strong high school performance.
If you are applying to HBU as a freshman, here are the steps you need to take:
Complete and submit our online application.
Submit an official transcript from each high school you have attended. Transcripts will only be considered official when sent directly from the institution to HBU.

Submit your official SAT or ACT scores.
a. SAT: www.collegeboard.org (HBU's School Code: 6282)
b. ACT: www.actstudent.org (HBU's School Code: 4101)
(*SAT is scored with Math and Critical Reading sections only*)
Applicants that do not meet the above requirements will go to the Academic Review Board for an admissions decision.
All students with a 1200 SAT* or 26 ACT Composite or higher will automatically be admitted to HBU
Students in the top 25% of their high school class will be admitted if they have a 900 SAT* or a 19 ACT Composite or higher
Students in the top 50% of their high school class will be admitted if they have a 960 SAT* or 21 ACT Composite or higher
: Applicants will NOT be automatically admitted and will undergo holistic review if they have any of the following***
a SAT section score below 400
an ACT section score below 18
an SAT essay score below 07
