Admission Requirements

Requirements are for current Pre-Nursing students and Transfer students.

Acceptance to HBU

By March 1st for Fall Entries and by September 1st for Spring Entries

HBU Acceptance Letter
All official transcripts received and reviewed by Admissions
- Students whos transcripts reflect more than two grades of "D" or "F" in the required science courses, or more than one grade of "D" or "F" in a nursing course will not be eligible to enter or continue in the program.

Minimum GPA Requirements

3.0 Cumulative GPA for Admission (Transfer student)
3.0 Cumulative GPA from HBU (current Pre-Nursing students)
- minimum of 12 credits completed at HBU
3.0 Cumulative GPA for required sciences
- Anatomy and Physiology I & II, Intro to Microbiology, and Intro to Chemistry

Completion of Program Course Requirements

ENGL 1320: Writing for Wisdom I
ENGL 1330: Writing for Wisdom II
CHEM 1404: Intro to Chemistry** (or General Chemistry)
BIOL 2414: Anatomy and Physiology I
BIOL 2404: Anatomy and Physiology II
BIOL 1414: Intro to Microbiology
MATH 1305: Math for Critical Thinking (or any higher Math)
PSYC 1313: General Psychology
PSYC 3313: Human Growth and Development
PSYC 2301: Statistics for Behavioral Sciences
GOVT 2313: American and Texas Government

**Science courses cannot be older than 7 years

Official HESI A2 Entrance Exam Scores

A minumum score of 80% in each of the following subsections is required:

Grammar	>80%
Reading Comprehension	>80%
Math	>80%
Anatomy and Physiology	No Minimum

Only two attempts are allowed to achieve a minumum score of 80% in each of the required areas.
- The 2nd attempt must be at least 30 days after the first exam
A student's HESI A2 Exam scores will not be considered if:
- retesting occurs less than 30 days
- exam is taken more than 2 times, regardless of scores or testing location
- scores are older than 3 years
To take the HESI A2 at HBU contact Testing Services

If HESI A2 Exam is not taken at HBU, official scores must be requested from Evolve and sent directly to:

Attend a Nursing Information Session

Our information sessions are required for students interested in applying to the nursing program. During information sessions we discuss the application procedure, prerequisites for the nursing program, scholarships, and requirements to obtain an application.

Nursing Information Sessions begin promptly, it is necessary to arrive on time to avoid missing important information.
