Alumni Endowed Scholarship

The HBU Alumni Association currently has five endowed scholarships. One scholarship may be awarded each year to an incoming freshman who meets all requirements and qualifications. Each recipient receives $4,500 a year for four years, totaling $18,000 ($2,250 each semester for 8 semesters).
 
The scholarships within the Alumni Endowed Scholarship Program are the:
  • Dr. James S. Taylor Endowed Scholarship
  • Dr. Gene Wofford Endowed Scholarship
  • Margaret S. Hudson Endowed Scholarship
  • Wanda E. Hudson Endowed Scholarship
  • Jane Jester '68 Marmion and Stephen Andrew Marmion Alumni Endowed Scholarship

Applicant Requirements:
  • Must be an entering freshman, a relative of an alumnus and accepted to the university by the time the Alumni Scholarship Committee meets to review applications. (See application deadline below.)
  • Full-time continuous enrollment of twelve hours or more per semester for four successive school years (September–May).
  • Successful completion of every class every semester for credit.
  • Maintain a 2.5 grade point average and be a student in good standing.
  • Attendance at certain functions during the year as specified by the Alumni Board such as an Alumni Board meeting, the Spring Scholarship Luncheon and the Alumni Association Annual Meeting held during Homecoming weekend.
 
Scholarship applications must be postmarked by Friday, May 1.
The Scholarship Committee will review all applicants make its selections by June 30th. Scholarships will be awarded on student merit and qualifications only. Scholarship applications should be mailed to:
