Dr. Robert F. Curl, Jr., Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at Rice University, will speak on "The Astounding Fullerenes: An Adventure in Chemistry" at a meeting of the Greater Houston Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) on Tuesday, February 11 in Mabee Theater. The State Molecule of Texas, the Bucky Ball, is a well-known fullerene and its discovery led to the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1996 for Dr. Curl along with Dr. Richard E. Smalley and Sir Harold W. Kroto. The meeting will be hosted by HBU's ACS Student Affiliate Chapter with chemistry faculty sponsors, Dr. Saul Trevino and Dr. Eric Van Caemelbecke. A reception with refreshments begins at 6:30 pm and the talk follows at 7:00 pm. Everyone at HBU is invited.
