Position Summary:

Responsible for routing telephone inquiries and directing visitors to proper destinations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Takes and routes incoming telephone calls on switchboard
  • Greets and directs visitors.
  • Performs light clerical tasks on an as-needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMTNES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.  As a member of the HBU Police Department applicant is expected to work a set schedule and also be available during times of emergency, i.e. hurricane.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED and seven months to one year of direct switchboard experience.
 
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
TCLEOSE Dispatch Certification desired or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of start date.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normal office conditions.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
In exercising these functions the employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.  No special vision requirements.
