Greetings from the Guild President
Ladies of the Guild,
This is the 38th year of The Guild, and what a privilege it is for me to serve as your president! Plans are underway with prayerful consideration for each Guild event. We have a hard working, talented, and very dedicated Board who are all eager to serve and do God’s work. I ask that you keep them in your prayers as they seek guidance and direction in achieving their goals. I know God has much planned for us as we work together to support Dr. Sloan and his vision for HBU. I welcome you all and look forward to seeing you at our events throughout the year.
I have chosen scriptures this year that focus on “serving.” One of my favorite gospel hymns expresses the message I would like to convey to each of you, individually and collectively: “We are many parts, but we are all one body … and the gifts we have, we’ve been given to share.” Like the apostles following their receipt of the Holy Spirit, let us work together this year to share our many gifts with those in need of the help we can offer.
In past years, I have had the privilege of serving on the Scholarship Committee to witness firsthand the incredible candidates who came forward to apply, interview and ultimately receive the Guild Scholarships. The Guild has changed the lives of many scholarship recipients, and this would not have been possible without your continued support. To date, the Guild has contributed an amazing $1.5 million to graduate scholarships in HBU’s Schools of Education and Theology, special projects and The Guild Institute in Christian Family Studies. Thank you!
Again, it is a privilege to serve as your president. I welcome you all and look forward to seeing you at our events throughout the year. God has a plan and He is always in control … and I know He has great things in store for us and for Houston Baptist University!
